農泊|Rural STAY in MIYAGI

「Have you heard of the term “Nōhaku”?

Miyagi’s rural areas (INAKA) are located close to Sendai and other urban centers, offering beautiful landscapes shaped by the sea, mountains, and fertile land, along with an abundance of fresh ingredients produced from this rich environment.

Miyagi has 26 designated Nōhaku (rural stay) areas—the second largest number in Japan as of March 2025—each providing programs that highlight the unique character of its community. From the coastal scenery of Minamisanriku and Sendai Bay to the wide, nature-rich lands surrounded by the Ōu Mountain Range stretching from Zao to Mount Kurikoma, these rural stays make full use of the diverse regional resources found throughout Miyagi.

A Wide-Area Initiative Centered in Northern Miyagi

The Miyagi North Belt is a wide-area, stay-oriented tourism region developed through the collaboration of Nōhaku (rural stay) councils from Ōsaki, Tome, Kurihara, Minamisanriku, and Ishinomaki in northern Miyagi Prefecture.

Throughout the year, visitors can enjoy a wide range of programs featuring nature, culture, traditions, and local community experiences. Food-related experiences are especially abundant, allowing travelers to enjoy delicious seasonal cuisine no matter when they visit.
